Common name: Silver Date Palm

From India, the crown of this palm is similar to Phoenix canariensis, but the trunk not as wide and has more obvious leaf bases. The trunk will often be wider at the base. It is also less cold hardy than canariensis and would need protection in most cool temperate areas. It does have the advantage of growing faster than canariensis, but being a large palm winter protection would be difficult on a mature palm.
