From Central Mexico, this small 2m (7') tall palm grows in rain forests at fairly high altitude. Very cold and drought tolerant making it a fairly low maintenance palm for smaller gardens even in cool temperate areas. Although it will take full sun, it prefers a lightly shaded position and will do well as a container or houseplant, even when fully grown.
