A small understorey palm from rain forest areas of South America. It has wide leaflets and will produce a nice red new leaf. Although not known to show any cold tolerance, it grows in shade and being small could make a good indoor palm. It prefers high humidity, so should be regularly misted and watered, if kept as a house plant.
