Common name: Bamboo Palm. From Mexico this small clumping palm to about 3m (10') tall forms thin stems resembling Bamboo. Similar in appearance to the other bamboo Chamaedorea species, but probably the most cold tolerant, it will take full sun with sufficient water. Fairly tolerant of low light and being relatively small makes a good container or houseplant. Will survive outside in a sunny, protected area of many cool temperate gardens, but it's small size allows easy overwintering indoors or protection outside.
