Common name: White Powder Palm.

From Madagascar, this recently introduced species has a powdery white crownshaft. This is a clumping species similar to Dypsis onilahensis, eventually growing several relatively narrow stems. Although it is too new to have much idea of cold tolerance, it is likely to be similar to Dypsis onilahensis. Whilst it would need winter protection in most cool temperate gardens, it could survive for many years as a house plant by removing stems which become too large.
