Common name: Canary Island Date Palm.

One of the most common cultivated palms in cooler regions. A tall solitary palm to 20m (60') tall with a full crown of feather leaves. Each leaf can reach 5m (17') in length. Despite it's natural habitat throughout the Canary Islands, this species has shown good cold tolerance and can be grown without protection in many cool temperate areas. Will take full sun from an early, although is not so cold hardy as a small plant.
