A hybrid of Jubaea chilensis and Butia capitata. The hybrid is generally regarded to be more cold hardy than either of it's parents and has the other advantage of faster growth. Appearance of the hybrids vary, most plants resembling one parent more than the other. Whilst still a fairly large palm, it is not as large as a pure Jubaea, so can be used in a greater variety of surroundings. Hybrids are becoming more widely available in cultivation, but the process of creating the hybrids is a difficult and unpredictable one, so you should expect to pay considerably more for a hybrid plant.
