Common name: Onilahy Palm.
Growing in several areas of Madagascar this is one of the more commonly seen Dypsis in cultivation. It grows up to 1800m above sea level and has shown some resistance to light frosts. Usually clumping, it grows to 20m (60') with a whitish crowshaft. There are two forms, a weeping variety with almost pendulous leaflets and a more upright form. It likes a partially shaded position, but will take full sun as it gets larger. Worth a try in cool temperate gardens with a favourable microclimate.
